This Privacy Policy describes how Tempo collects, uses, stores, and protects your personal information when you use the Tempo platform — including tempocreator.com, the Tempo DAW plugin, and all related services. Tempo is committed to complying with applicable privacy laws in both the United States and Canada, including CCPA, PIPEDA, and Quebec's Law 25. By using the Platform you agree to this policy.

Who This Policy Applies To

This policy applies to all users of the Tempo Platform located in the United States and Canada. Tempo does not knowingly collect data from users outside these regions or from individuals under the age of 18.

Information We Collect

Information you provide directly:

  • Full name and email address
  • Password (encrypted — never stored in plain text)
  • Payment information (processed and stored by Stripe — Tempo never stores your card details)
  • Payout account information for Creator Fund disbursements
  • Proof Snippets submitted for session verification

Information collected automatically through the plugin:

  • Active session start and end times
  • Verified active creation time per session
  • DAW activity signals used to detect genuine creation versus idle time
  • Session metadata (not audio content unless submitted as a Proof Snippet)

Information collected from the website:

  • IP address, browser type, device type
  • Pages visited and time on site
  • Referring URL

Tempo does not use Google Analytics or any third party analytics tracking tools. Website data is collected solely through standard server logs.

How We Use Your Information
  • Create and manage your Tempo account
  • Process subscription payments through Stripe
  • Track and verify your active creation sessions
  • Calculate and distribute Creator Fund payouts
  • Send transactional emails — receipts, payout notices, account alerts
  • Send marketing emails about Tempo updates and features (you may opt out at any time)
  • Detect and prevent fraud and abuse of the Creator Fund
  • Comply with legal obligations in the US and Canada
  • Improve and maintain the Platform

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. Ever.

How We Share Your Information

Tempo shares your information only with the following third parties, solely to operate the Platform:

Proof Snippets

Proof Snippets you submit for session verification are handled with the highest care:

  • Used solely to confirm that active music creation occurred during your logged session
  • Reviewed for verification purposes only — never stored permanently after verification
  • Not licensed, sold, distributed, or used commercially in any way
  • Not shared with any third party

Tempo does not claim any ownership or rights over your Proof Snippets or any creative content you produce. Your music is yours.

Data Storage & Security
  • Your data is stored on servers hosted by Render, located in the United States
  • Payment data is stored and secured by Stripe in accordance with PCI DSS standards
  • We use encryption, access controls, and security monitoring to protect your information
  • In the event of a data breach, Tempo will notify you by email within 72 hours of becoming aware, as required by applicable law

Marketing Emails & CASL Compliance
  • Tempo only sends marketing emails with your express consent provided at account creation
  • Every marketing email includes a clear and functional unsubscribe link in the footer
  • You may opt out at any time — opting out does not affect transactional emails
  • Tempo complies with Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) and the US CAN-SPAM Act
  • Unsubscribe requests are processed within 10 business days as required by CASL

Your Privacy Rights

All users (US & Canada):

  • Right to access — request a copy of the personal information Tempo holds about you
  • Right to correction — request that we correct inaccurate information
  • Right to deletion — request that we delete your personal information
  • Right to data portability — request an export of your data before account deletion

Canadian users (PIPEDA & Quebec Law 25):

  • Right to withdraw consent for data collection at any time, subject to legal retention requirements
  • Quebec residents have additional rights under Law 25, including the right to be informed of automated decision-making that affects them

California users (CCPA):

  • Right to know what personal information is collected and how it is used
  • Right to opt out of the sale of personal information — Tempo does not sell personal information
  • Right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights

Cookies

Tempo does not use advertising cookies or third party tracking cookies. The Platform may use essential session cookies solely to keep you logged in during your visit. These cannot be disabled while using the Platform.

No cookie consent banner is currently displayed as we do not use non-essential cookies. If this changes, we will update this policy and implement appropriate consent mechanisms.

Children's Privacy

Tempo is intended for users 18 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we become aware that a user under 18 has created an account, we will terminate the account and delete all associated data immediately.

Cross-Border Data Transfers

Your data may be stored and processed in the United States regardless of where you are located. By using the Platform, Canadian users consent to the transfer of their personal information to the United States for processing and storage. Tempo ensures that all third party processors maintain appropriate data protection standards.

Quebec French Language Requirement

Conformément à la Loi 25 du Québec, les résidents du Québec ont le droit de recevoir cette politique de confidentialité en français. Changes to This Policy

Tempo may update this Privacy Policy at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email to your registered address at least 30 days before taking effect. Continued use of the Platform after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
