These Creator Fund Terms govern your participation in the Tempo Creator Fund — the shared compensation pool that pays creators for verified active creation time. These terms are incorporated into the Tempo Terms of Service. By activating your Tempo subscription and using the plugin, you agree to these Fund Terms.
Currently in Beta — these terms will take full effect upon public launch.
The Tempo Creator Fund is a shared compensation pool funded by creator subscriptions. Eligible creators earn a proportional share of the Fund each month based on verified active creation time logged through the Tempo plugin.
The Fund is designed to compensate creators for time spent creating — not for streams, placements, popularity, or algorithmic performance.
- One (1) Creation Unit is earned for each verified hour of active creation time recorded by the Tempo plugin
- "Active creation time" means time during which the Tempo plugin detects genuine DAW activity. Idle time, background processes, and inactive sessions do not count
- Tempo reserves the right to adjust the Unit calculation method with 30 days' notice to active subscribers
- To receive a payout, creators must submit a Proof Snippet — a lightweight audio or project file clip — for each eligible session or session block
- Proof Snippets are used solely to verify that active creation occurred
- They are not stored for commercial use, licensed, or shared with third parties
- Tempo does not claim any ownership, rights, or license to any creative content submitted as a Proof Snippet
- Sessions without an accepted Proof Snippet are ineligible for payout regardless of Units earned
- At the end of each calendar month, the available Fund balance is distributed proportionally among all eligible creators based on their verified Units
- Your payout reflects your share of verified creation time relative to all eligible creators that month. A detailed payout breakdown is available in your creator dashboard after each payout cycle
- The "Available Fund Balance" is the Fund total after Tempo deducts its platform fee (see Section 6)
- Payouts are issued on the 15th of each month for the prior month's verified activity. If the 15th falls on a weekend or holiday, payouts will be processed the next business day
- Minimum payout threshold: $10.00 USD. Balances below this threshold carry over to the following month automatically
To receive a payout you must:
- Have an active, paid Tempo subscription for the full month of the payout period
- Have submitted valid Proof Snippets for your sessions
- Have a verified payout account on file (e.g., connected bank account via Stripe)
- Not be in violation of these Fund Terms or the Tempo Terms of Service
- Be located in a supported payout region (currently: United States and Canada)
Tempo reserves the right to withhold or forfeit payouts from accounts found to be in violation of these terms.
Tempo retains a platform fee of 30% of the gross Fund balance each month to cover platform operations, payment processing, fraud prevention, and infrastructure costs. The remaining 70% is distributed to eligible creators.
The platform fee percentage may be adjusted with 60 days' notice to active subscribers.
The following are strictly prohibited and will result in immediate account termination and forfeiture of all earned Units and pending payouts:
✕
Running the Tempo plugin without actively creating (e.g., leaving a session open idle)
✕
Submitting false, recycled, or AI-generated Proof Snippets not representing genuine work
✕
Using bots, scripts, or automation to inflate session time
✕
Creating multiple accounts to accumulate Units
✕
Any other attempt to game or manipulate the Fund
✕
Misrepresenting your identity or location to access payouts
Tempo uses session analysis, Proof Snippet review, and anomaly detection to identify abuse. Decisions on fraud determinations are made at Tempo's sole discretion.
- The Fund is funded primarily by creator subscription revenue. The Fund balance varies month to month based on active subscriber count
- Tempo does not guarantee a minimum payout amount or a minimum Fund balance
- If the Fund balance in a given month is zero or insufficient to meet minimum thresholds, payouts may be deferred to the following month
- Tempo reserves the right to pause, restructure, or discontinue the Creator Fund with 60 days' notice to active subscribers. In such an event, all verified earned Units will be paid out before the Fund closes
- Creators are solely responsible for reporting and paying any taxes owed on Fund payouts in their jurisdiction
- US-based creators earning over $600 USD in a calendar year will receive a 1099-NEC form as required by US law
- Canadian creators are responsible for reporting Fund payout income to the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) under applicable Canadian income tax law. Payouts may be considered self-employment or business income depending on your situation — consult a tax professional if you are unsure
- Canadian creators receiving payouts from a US-based platform may be subject to withholding tax obligations depending on their province and personal tax situation
- Tempo is not responsible for providing tax advice or withholding taxes on your behalf unless required by applicable law
Tempo may update these Fund Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email to your registered address at least 30 days before taking effect. Continued use of Tempo after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
